Computer Lab Assistant (Part-Time)

Job Summary:

The West Hartford Library is looking for a tech-savvy individual to help staff our busy computer lab at our main library.  Our computer lab assistants monitor the lab, which includes 18 Windows 10 computers and an all-in-one scanning station.  This position involves helping patrons log into our computers using our print/time management system, helping patrons print, as well as helping patrons with basic computer tasks. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Adobe .pdf reader and Windows
  • Ability to learn a print/time management system to add money to patron's accounts, reprint jammed print jobs and extend time on computers
  • Ability to answer basic computer questions
  • Knowledge of Firefox, Chrome, and Edge
  • Basic printer and scanner troubleshooting skills and ability to add paper and toner when needed
  • Good communication skills and friendly attitude is a must as this requires working very closely with our patrons

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to change schedule and/or cover shifts as needed

Schedule: Up to 10-hours per week depending on shift availability.  Evening and weekend shifts may be required.

Salary and Benefits: $23.09/hour. Sick leave is provided consistent with State of Connecticut Regulations, but there are no other benefits associated with this position.
