Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • OR Assistant will assit the physician and/or the RN during Gastroenterology Endoscopy procedures.
  • ORAssistant is responsible for ensuring endoscopic equipment is in good working order and able to perform all necessary steps for reprocessing endsocpes per department policy.
  • OR Assistant is responsible for setting up and organizing endoscopy suites. It is expected the OR Assistant to assist with GI Suite turnover and collecting specimens for tissue pathology.
  • OR Assistant is responsible for managing and ordering supplies for all endoscopy procedure and ensuring GI Lab 1&2 are stocked appropriately for procedures.
  • OR Assistant will perform delegated patient care by the nurse that is appropriate to the age of patients served, follows Standards of Care, Standards of Practice, and State Practice Guidelines to deliver care, utilizes principles of Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement, maintains a safe environment of care, follows plan of care established for patient, contributes to a collaborative practice with other nursing staff and disciplines.
  • OR Assistant will assist the RN in Pre-Op rooming patients, documenting initial height, weight, shave the patient prior to surgery, and taking vital signs.
  • OR Assistant will be assist the RN in PACU removing IV, assisting the patient with dressing, transporting patients to their vehicles after discharge is complete, and preparing patient bays for the next patient.
  • OR Assistant will assist with cleaning, reprocessing, and sterilizing equipment and instruments.
  • OR Assistant will assist the OR RN with positioning, holding extreminties for sterile prepping, and turning over the OR.

  • BLS
  • Preferred NOT Required:

    • Kansas CNA license or 6 months NA experience that includes VS, blood glucose monitoring, ADLs

      MA Certification, EMT certification, GI Technical Specialist completed GI Associates Program.
