Job description

Job Summary (List Format):
- Position: Clinical Laboratory Technologist – Chemistry Department
- Location: Metropolitan Hospital
- Schedule: 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week; all shifts available (priority: evening/night)
- Employment Type: Temp-to-perm (potential for permanent hire after assignment)
Key Duties:
- Perform complex chemical, hematological, immunologic, and microscopic lab tests.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Conduct quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
- Process, analyze, and verify patient specimens per established protocols.
- Record and report laboratory findings via hospital electronic systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment and testing issues; escalate as appropriate.
- Adhere to safety, infection control, and regulatory laboratory standards.
- Collaborate with medical staff and laboratory team for workflow and result interpretation.
- Participate in cross-training, process improvement, and equipment validation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field (Associate’s degree mentioned in schedule notes; verify requirement).
- Valid NYSED Clinical Laboratory Technologist license.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory technologist experience (hospital chemistry preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
