Overview:

Responsibilities:
Receive, sort, and accurately log laboratory specimens, ensuring proper identification and storage.
Perform routine instrument maintenance to ensure optimal functionality of laboratory equipment.
Prepare specimens for testing by centrifuging, aliquoting, checking for clots or fibrin, and inoculating samples as required.
Build worklists, prepare slides, and perform specimen processing tasks following standard protocols.
Prepare and label reagents and media, maintaining proper storage and documentation.
Conduct quality assurance and control procedures, including recording temperature charts, resolving pending lists, and identifying missing samples.
Maintain cleanliness and decontaminate work areas regularly, including weekly radioactive wipe tests in settings where applicable.
Change gas cylinders, dispose of biohazardous waste safely, and follow all PPE and safety standards.
Record laboratory data accurately, operate laboratory computer systems, and generate reports as needed.
Maintain organized files and logs for department records, including reagent inventory and equipment maintenance.
Assist with other laboratory tasks, including specimen storage and retrieval, decontamination, and safeguarding laboratory safety protocols.
Required Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant training is beneficial.
Basic understanding of laboratory procedures, specimen handling, and safety protocols.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for multitasking in a busy setting.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and retain procedural knowledge.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact courteously with internal teams and external clients.
Proficiency with laboratory computer systems, data entry, and basic PC operation.
