Position Information
Position Title Academic Computing Support Aide Reports To Director
Functions and Responsibilities
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Telecommunications or designee, the Academic Computing Support Specialist will oversee the day-to-day operations of the SSSC and provide support for the college's academic computer laboratories and classrooms
Please Note: Essex County College does not provide visa sponsorship of any kind. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and for the duration of employment.
Compensation: This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $15.92 per hour.

Supervisory Role
Oral and written instructions are received from the Associate Director of Telecommunications or designee.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Provide support to students using ECC digital systems.
2. Develop and maintain documentation, tutorials, and training materials to facilitate student understanding and usage of ECC digital services.
3. Assist with ensuring all academic computer labs are operational and properly maintained.
4. Serve as the primary point of contact for students' first tier technical issues and inquiries related to ECC digital services.
5. Assist faculty and students in the proper use of computer lab equipment.
6. Collaborate with IT personnel to address technical issues, implement system upgrades, and enhance user experience.
7. Conduct regular assessments of the Student System Support Center's effectiveness and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
8. Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices in student support services to enhance the center's capabilities.
9. Maintain the PCS and peripheral systems in the academic computer labs.
10. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of staff, student and departmental records.
11. Prepare routine, special and ancillary reports as required.
12. Perform other related duties as required.
