What is a Computer IT professional?

A Computer IT (Information Technology) professional is someone who manages, maintains, and supports computer systems, networks, and related technologies within an organization. Their responsibilities can range from setting up hardware and software, troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring network security, and supporting users with technical problems. Computer IT professionals play a critical role in keeping an organization's technology running smoothly and securely. They may specialize in areas like network administration, cybersecurity, technical support, or systems analysis. Their work is essential for businesses to operate efficiently in today's technology-driven world.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Computer IT professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Computer IT professional, you need a strong understanding of computer systems, networks, troubleshooting, and a relevant degree or certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE). Scout Space is building a new way to see and operate in space: with a new paradigm of data empowering every satellite to make space safer. We are a rapidly-growing team; we are deploying real solutions to orbit over the next 2 years; and our work will transform the face of spaceflight. The IT Administrator will also play a key role in expanding our IT efforts as Scout grows as a company. Local candidates are preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and manage internal IT operations, creating documentation and procedures for all IT processes
  • Provide first-line IT support for employees, triaging hardware, software, and network issues

  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure and security principles
  • Proficiency in managing AWS cloud services
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure/GCC High environment
  • Understanding of IT security frameworks and compliance requirements
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Must be eligible to hold a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with government contracting IT requirements
  • Experience building in-house IT support

  • Education Reimbursement

Don't fulfill all the qualifications listed above? If you still feel like you might be a good fit, please feel free to APPLY ANYWAY. We believe in a well-rounded team, and this sometimes means that someone with out-of-context knowledge can contribute just as well as someone with very explicit alignment with our capabilities needs stated.

Our positions are based in the Reston, Virginia area. This is an in-person opportunity.

This position involves access to technology that is subject to U.S. export controls. Any job offer made will be contingent upon the applicant's capacity to serve in compliance with U.S. export controls.
