ABOUT THE TEAM
The Launched Effects team at Anduril is responsible for scaling the manufacturing and delivery of the ALTIUS family of systems (including the ALTIUS-600 and ALTIUS-700). As the premier Air-Launched Effects (ALE) platform for the U.S. military and its allies, ALTIUS is redefining modern warfare. These tube-launched, autonomous aerial systems must be built to survive extreme deployment environments, requiring precision manufacturing of advanced composites, complex avionics, and modular payload integrations for ISR, Electronic Warfare, and kinetic strike capabilities.
As part of the Launched Effects manufacturing team, you will bridge the gap between cutting-edge R&D and high-rate production. We are a fast-moving, mission-driven group of manufacturing engineers, quality specialists, and production operations experts who refuse to accept traditional, slow defense manufacturing timelines. We continuously optimize our assembly lines, implement automated testing, design for manufacturing (DFM), and build resilient supply chains to deploy reliable systems to the front lines at unprecedented speed. If you want to work on a team where your production and manufacturing decisions directly impact global security, this is it.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Manufacturing organization, you will lead the initiative to develop and progress Tooling and Automation on the Manufacturing floor. You'll design bespoke solutions that raise product quality and unlock throughput - owning each one from napkin sketch to the moment it goes into service. This role rewards creative problem-solving and a bias toward data-driven decisions: you'll find the bottlenecks, then build the thing that eliminates them.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Design fixtures, jigs, shop aids, and material handling devices to assist in current production as well as future production
  • Develop mechanical designs for automated equipment and testers
  • Interface with Technicians and Product Design Engineers to develop design requirements
  • Own designs from concept to final delivery on production floor
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues on the production floor

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of mechanical design experience
  • Proficient in CAD design
  • Proficient with standard hand tooling, and able to assemble and repair equipment
  • Solid understanding of tolerances and how to design equipment and tooling that allow product to meet specified tolerances
  • Ability to self-lead work with little oversight
  • Strong understanding of designing tooling in a way that protects the product
  • Strong understanding of how to design machined parts, sheet metal parts, 3D printed parts, and frames made from aluminum extrusion
  • Proficient in writing documentation including but not limited to technical drawings and instruction manuals

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience designing and building control cabinets
  • Experience designing stepper motor and servo motor controlled designs
  • Experience with sensor selection
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting
  • Experience with NX CAD software
  • Ability to define acceptance test procedures based on mechanical requirements

US Salary Range
$111,000-$147,000 USD
