Job description


SUMMARY
BLUvera, Mortenson's vertically integrated manufacturing and fabrication affiliate, is currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join the construction products manufacturing and fabrication process engineering department. This role is responsible for leading process improvements in plant operations, developing and implementing manufacturing processes, and providing hands-on engineering support. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will ensure plant objectives in safety, quality, customer service, and cost are met through efficient and effective operations. The ideal candidate will have a combination of previous hands-on and design experience in equipment maintenance, process and product design, while providing technical leadership for complex manufacturing initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in the design, development, and improvement of manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, and overall productivity
  • Leveraging your experience and technical expertise, you will lead projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations
  • Utilize CAD/CAM software for CNC part design and toolpath creation, editing G-code to optimize machining performance
  • Monitor and standardize operating procedures for automated light-gauge steel roll forming equipment, ensuring structural precision for construction industry standards
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts and implement corrective and preventive actions to address complex process issues and improve reliability
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to troubleshoot technical issues and improve manufacturing performance
  • Identify, document, and drive preventative maintenance activities for automated machinery
  • Lead capital equipment and manufacturing improvement projects from concept through implementation, including equipment selection, installation, and startup support
  • Partner with production leaders to develop and implement technical training for team members and mentor less experienced engineers and technicians
  • Establish and monitor key manufacturing performance metrics including equipment uptime, productivity, quality, and throughput
  • Evaluate and implement automation and process improvement opportunities to support operational growth and scalability
  • Leverage strong interpersonal skills to connect with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering preferred)
  • 5+ years of assembly/manufacturing experience with emphasis on continuous process improvement and manufacturing engineering
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent root cause analysis skills
  • Proven problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills
  • Experience leading continuous improvement, change management, and cross-functional manufacturing initiatives
  • Experience managing capital equipment or manufacturing improvement projects preferred
  • Experience with MasterCAM, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks software
  • Experience with automation systems, CNC equipment, or advanced manufacturing technologies preferred
  • Active listening skills and effective communication; openness to diverse input and feedback
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

The base pay range for this role is $103,200 - $154,800. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
