Job description


Socomec Group (Socomec) is a global leader in electrical equipment engineering and manufacturing, specialized in low voltage energy performance. Socomec North America (NAM) is Socomec's organization overseeing all operations in North America.
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and support the assembly and production of Static Transfer Switches (STS) and Datacenter Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in industrial engineering principles to optimize assembly processes, ensure product quality, and drive continuous improvement in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Design, implement, and refine assembly processes for STS and UPS systems.
  • Develop work instructions, process flows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to assembly teams.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, quality, supply chain) to resolve technical challenges.
  • Apply lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and advanced tooling.
  • Drive initiatives to improve throughput, reduce cycle time, and enhance product reliability
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal quality requirements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
  • Support testing and validation of assembled systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of process changes, assembly metrics, and performance data.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management on production performance and improvement projects.

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge And Skills
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering (required).
  • 2 plus years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in electrical or power systems assembly will be a plus, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Familiarity with UPS systems, Static Power Switches, and related components.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, process optimization, and quality control.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools and manufacturing software.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiar with computers and applications such as MS Office and databases.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.

Working Conditions:
  • 75% of the worktime will be on the shop floor.
  • Works with and around live power.
  • Regular use of computers.

Employment Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work for up to 8hrs.
