Nursing Program Clinical Instructor
Salary: $40.00 per hour
Summary of Function: Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, they are responsible for the supervision and training of nursing students in clinical sites. Helps with clinical skills, laboratory experiences, and assists with simulation experiences.
Typical Duties:
- Serves Students. Student Learning. Provides clinical Instruction and supervision of students in the clinical and lab settings, adhering to the policies of the clinical setting and AWC. Orients students to the clinical setting. Challenges the students' clinical reasoning skills and fosters the application of skill and knowledge development. Is available at all times while the students are in the clinical setting. Observes and guides students' learning activities with clients. Evaluates the performance of each student according to the evaluation criteria provided. Provides students with constructive weekly, formative, and summative feedback regarding their clinical performance to assist students in further growth and skill development.
- Course Team: Provides weekly and/or timely feedback to the faculty team regarding individual students at risk of failure and/or group performance that may impact their clinical success. Provides feedback to their course faculty team and the clinical facilitator, regarding the clinical setting's effectiveness in supporting student accomplishment of the course and program outcomes. Develop and maintain good professional relations with students and employees in clinical sites.
- Program: Responsible for maintaining an updated, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Arizona. Maintains current AWC nursing program continuing education requirements and competencies. Attends the required Clinical Nursing Orientation held at the beginning of each semester.
- Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.
- Master's Degree in Nursing preferred but not required
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- Must possess or be eligible for an Arizona license as a Registered Nurse
- Valid Driver's License

Position Type & Work Schedule:
- Part-time
- 9 Months
- Up to 19 hours per week, in person
- Work flexible schedule to meet the program, department, and/or institutional needs, which may include Fridays, nights, and/or weekends

- Knowledge of and ability to interpret, apply, and follow college policies and procedures
- Knowledge of or ability to maintain organizational structure, workflow and operating procedures
- Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows, college system platforms, software and applications especially those specific to the department operations
- Skill and ability to be self-directed and to manage one's own time
- Ability to complete all departmental and/or institutional mandatory training or development
- Ability to organize, prioritize, follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with close attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Ability to provide assistance in a professional and supportive manner
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, in writing, and in a public setting, and to relate to others in a professional manner
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected information and follow FERPA and privacy guidelines
- Ability to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and civility in all job-related actions
- Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate actions to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective, and collaborative relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, students, and the public
Work Environment:
- Inside office environment with normal noise and lighting levels
- Work is performed in an open office environment with staff, students, and community contact and interruptions
- Working environment may include various locations across the service district, with varying noise levels, indoor and/or outdoor locations as needed to support program, department or institutional needs
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking
- May lift, carry, push, and/or pull, at times, a minimum of 50 pounds to support clinical patient care
- Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or twist
Travel:
- May be required to travel to other locations using various modes of private, commercial, or fleet transportation, and as needed to support program, department, and institutional needs
