We are currently seeking a highly motivated and self-driven Junior Programmer. The role provides frontline help desk support and resolves user issues, troubleshoots hardware/software, and escalates complex tickets. This role will help the team complete needed programming changes. to enable technology to be leveraged at a faster pace.
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a supporting member of the CAMS/AS400 programming team, focusing on making quick program changes, implementing break fixes, and performing maintenance tasks to keep systems running smoothly.
  • Assist with small enhancements and modifications to existing programs, particularly those related to general accounting, financial, and sales reporting, planning and operations functionalities.
  • Serve as the main contact for Help Desk incoming calls and tickets. Monitor, prioritize, and respond to tickets as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with senior programmers and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver timely solutions that follow established business rules.
  • Work closely with the programming team to test changes, ensure data accuracy, and maintain system stability.
  • Support larger projects by handling assigned tasks, documentation, and follow-up solutions as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Programming, Information Systems, or related field, plus 2+ years of experience in programming on IBM System i OR 5+ years experience in programming on IBM System i. Basic understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and willingness to follow team processes for analysis, development, testing, and documentation.
  • Preferred: Exposure to warehousing, distribution, or manufacturing environments is a plus, especially knowledge of the flooring industry. Preferred experience with Jira administration, including creating and managing projects, configuring workflows, custom fields, dashboards, permissions, and generating reports to support team collaboration and Sprint tracking.
  • Technical: Working knowledge of RPG/IV, RPG-ILE, RPG-Free, CL, SQL, Embedded SQL and related tools such as Query/400, DBU, or i-Series Data Transfer. Proficiency in any additional languages (C++, Visual Basic, Java, etc.) is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions to team members and end users. Commitment to delivering accurate, reliable work, especially when handling financial and sales data. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple support tickets, and meet tight deadlines for break fixes. Team player with excellent organizational skills and a positive attitude. Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues and implement effective fixes.
