LPA Elementary School is seeking a caring, organized, and dependable Elementary School Administrative Assistant / Health Aide to serve as an important member of our elementary school team. This position provides essential administrative support to the school office while also serving as a health aide for students.
The ideal candidate will be welcoming and professional, able to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff, and comfortable working in a busy school environment. This individual must be able to maintain confidentiality, respond calmly to student health needs, and manage multiple responsibilities throughout the school day.
Pay Range: $15.62-$19.25/hr
Essential Responsibilities
Administrative Assistant Duties
  • Serve as a welcoming and positive first point of contact for students, families, staff, and visitors.
  • Answer and direct telephone calls, emails, and other communications.
  • Assist families and visitors with questions, concerns, and school-related needs.
  • Maintain accurate student and school records while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Assist with student attendance, including entering and monitoring attendance information.
  • Assist with student enrollment, withdrawals, records, and other office procedures.
  • Prepare correspondence, forms, reports, and other school documents.
  • Assist the principal and school staff with daily administrative tasks.
  • Maintain organized office files and records.
  • Assist with scheduling, appointments, meetings, and school events.
  • Communicate important information to families and staff as directed.
  • Assist with school purchases, supplies, and office inventory.
  • Support school-wide activities and events as needed.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and maintain a positive, student-centered office environment.

Health Aide Duties
  • Provide basic first aid and care to students who become ill or injured during the school day.
  • Assess student needs and determine when additional assistance or parent/guardian notification is necessary.
  • Administer medications according to district policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health and medical records.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns as appropriate.
  • Monitor students with health conditions and follow individual health plans as directed by the school nurse or other licensed health professionals.
  • Provide care for minor injuries, illness, and other routine student health needs.
  • Maintain appropriate health room supplies and ensure the health office is clean, organized, and adequately stocked.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the school nurse, administration, families, and other appropriate staff.
  • Respond appropriately and calmly to emergency situations and follow established emergency procedures.
  • Protect student privacy and maintain confidentiality regarding medical and health information.
  • Follow all district policies and procedures related to student health and safety.

Qualifications
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work effectively with elementary-aged students.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in stressful situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a busy school office.
  • Basic computer and technology skills.

Preferred:
  • Previous experience working in a school office or educational setting.
  • Previous experience as a health aide, medical assistant, nursing assistant, or in a similar student health-related role.
  • Experience working with children.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Experience with student information systems and school office procedures.
  • Familiarity with medication administration and student health plans.
