IT Desktop Support Technician (Federal Work Study)
Job Description
The IT Desktop Support Technician provides first-level technical support
to students, faculty, and staff by assisting with hardware, software, and classroom technology issues. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience aligned with a Desktop Support Technician career path. This position will work under the direction of the Technology Support Manager.
Essential Duties Summary
• Provide Tier 1 desktop support for Windows and macOS systems
• Troubleshoot hardware issues (PCs, laptops, monitors, printers)
• Assist with software, OS, email, and network connectivity issues
• Log and track requests using an IT ticketing system
• Provide basic classroom and lab technology support
• Assist with computer imaging, setup, and inventory
• Communicate clearly and professionally with end users
Required Qualifications
• Basic knowledge of Windows or macOS
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Willingness to learn and follow IT procedures
Preferred Qualifications
• Coursework in IT, Computer Science, or related field
• Familiarity with Active Directory or ticketing systems
