We are looking for a qualified Information Systems Specialist to install, maintain and repair computers and networking equipment. The IT Specialist will be the one to ensure that adequate IT infrastructure is in place and is used to its maximum capabilities. As an IT Specialist you must be well-versed in computer systems and network functions. The ideal candidate will be able to work diligently and accurately with a team and on their own and will possess a great problem-solving ability, in order to fix issues and ensure functionality. The goal is to install and maintain high-quality networks and computer information systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consults with management to analyze computer system needs for management information and functional operations, to determine scope and priorities of projects, and to discuss system capacity and equipment acquisitions.
  • Recommends and develops plans for systems development and operations, hardware and software purchases, budget, and staffing.
  • Manages the development, implementation, installation, and operation of information and functional systems for the organization.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors management information systems policies and controls to ensure data accuracy, security, and legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Negotiates and contracts with consultants, technical personnel, and vendors for services and products.
  • Provides support to end users in the selection, procurement, usage, and maintenance of software programs and hardware.
  • Manages computer operation scheduling, backup, storage, and retrieval functions.
  • Reviews reports of computer and peripheral equipment production, malfunction, and maintenance to determine costs and impact, and address problems.
  • Develops, maintains, and tests disaster recovery plans.
  • Sets up hardware and installs and configures software and line of business applications.
  • Maintain and repair technological equipment (e.g. routers, switches, firewalls) or peripheral devices.
  • Install well-functioning LAN/WAN networks and manage components (servers, IPs networking equipment, plans etc.)
  • Manage security solutions and software in computers and networks to maintain privacy and protection from attacks while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Perform regular upgrades to ensure systems remain updated
  • Troubleshoot system failures or bugs and provide solutions to restore functionality
  • Arrange maintenance sessions to discover and mend inefficiencies
  • Manage and troubleshoot backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Keep records of repairs and fixes for future reference
  • Offer timely technical support and teach users how to utilize computers correctly.

SKILLS

  • Proven experience as computer technician or similar role
  • Experience with LAN/WAN networks
  • Experience with Virtualization e.g. VMware, Citrix, Azure, AWS
  • Thorough knowledge of computer systems and IT components
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
  • Very good communication abilities
  • Exceptional organizing and time-management skills
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+, Net+, Security+) will be an advantage
