Starting salary for this position is: This is a full-time, tenure track position with an entry level base salary (for a 175-day academic year contract) of $80,030 - $112,454 annually. Future advancement in base salary, up to the current maximum of $112,454, is based upon a combination of years of service accrued at our college and professional development activity.
Annual salary is comprised of base salary plus any combination of academic year overload contracts, summer effort contracts, project stipends, student club advising stipends, and/or department chair program lead faculty stipends consistent with the provisions of the current collective bargaining agreement between Spokane Colleges and the Association for Higher Education (AHE).

About the Computer Information Systems Networking - Tenure-Track - Spokane Community College
DUTIES AND RESPNSIBLITIES
  • Prepare for and instruct classes in the disciplines of Computer Networking using a range of modalities including traditional classroom, online platforms, virtual labs, and industry tools such as Cisco Network Academy, CompTIA TestOut, and NETLAB. Examples of the types of courses typically assigned include Cisco Networking, IT Essentials, Linux/Unix, Virtualization Technologies, Windows Server, Network Security, and Database Administration.
  • Oversee the Cisco Academy program. This position will be the Cisco Academy Director & Lead Faculty. Responsibilities include maintaining Cisco equipment, managing warranty issues, keeping Cisco lab equipment updated, managing membership agreements with both the Academy Support Center (ASC) and Cisco to assure compliance and verifying all Cisco courses are being accessed and taught following Cisco's policies.
  • Provide availability and accessibility to students for purpose of academic consulting and support, in a manner appropriate to meet student needs, through a combination of scheduled office hours, e-mail accessibility or other effective means of responsive and timely communication.
  • Communicate expectations and establishes clear grading criteria through appropriate instructional means, to include but not limited to developing course syllabi, handouts, and materials supporting the instructional process; evaluates student progress and provides clear, timely feedback.
  • Participate in district, division, department, or general faculty meetings; in-service training; curriculum development; academic consulting; workshops or seminars; service on district or college councils or committees, or other activities within the scope of the position.
  • Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions.
  • Comply with state and federal law applicable to professional duties and responsibilities; Follows established procedures in areas such as printing, turning in grades, bookstore orders, office support, student financial aid requirements, safety and health issues and related administrative processes.
  • Support and advance the Spokane Colleges strategic plan and perform other duties as assigned.
  • In addition, faculty may:
    • Instruct courses in related disciplines based upon individual qualifications and expertise. Of particular interest are DevOps, Cloud Computing, and Software Development.
    • Supervise paraprofessional employees or direct the work of assigned work-study students. Responsible for ensuring assigned staff adhere to acceptable behavior and performance standards. Demonstrate that assigned staff have been informed how behavior and performance will be assessed, receive timely and accurate feedback regarding performance, and any observed performance and behavioral problems are corrected promptly.
    • Advise student clubs or associations.
    • Participate in program accreditation activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • An earned bachelor's degree in software development, computer technology, computer science, computer information systems or related field from an accredited institution OR an earned associate's degree and four or more years' experience in the computer networking field.
  • The ability to become a certified Cisco Academy instructor. This instructor will be required to attend and pass Cisco's Train-the-Trainer program to be certified to teach the Cisco Routing and Switching curriculum. This is an expectation of employment and Cisco Academy instructor status must be attained within 6 months of employment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer networking concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to keep abreast of new and emerging technologies.
  • Acceptance of the responsibility to always promote the welfare and best interests of students.
  • Understanding of and willingness to support the role that community colleges serve in higher education, and specifically the mission, values, goals, and objectives of Spokane Colleges.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting a teaching, learning, and working environment that honors diversity, equity, and inclusion.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • An earned master's degree in software development, computer technology, computer science, computer information technology or closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Recent teaching or corporate training experience.
  • Recent business/industry experience in software development or related field.
  • Certified as a Cisco Academy instructor.
  • Cisco certification - Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
  • Experience with design, instruction, quality assurance, and assessment in an online learning environment.
