Hartford Fire Insurance Company in Hartford, CT has the following opening for a Staff Software Engineer.

Summary of Duties: Provide technical leadership to teams by enforcing the vision of the application architecture for Billing and safeguard the integrity of the application environment, in alliance with architects and other tech leads. Function as the go-to technical leader for the software applications supported i.e., ORMB, requiring depth and breadth of knowledge in the product, underlying technologies, applications, integration, interfaces, and business domain. Understand and implement the overall technical vision for Billing systems, keeping in mind cross-functional impacts, integration across the organization and architecture rationalization. Proactively address technical issues and risks related to operational support. Collaborate with teams to identify opportunities for integration across tools used in the life cycle, including agile, test automation, platform configuration management, and drive efficiencies. Mentor team members (including Sourcing Partners) to enforce development guidelines and best practices. Work closely with stakeholders to design and document automation solutions that align with the business needs and consistent with the architectural vision. Provide consulting support to large transformation projects related to billing and other policy management business functions. Provide concise, transparent communications about potential risks, mitigations, and business impacts in a timely manner. Understand technology trade off risks and rewards for the best customer value Delivery. Identify opportunities to reduce total cost of ownership in the operational application support areas. Support and consult on disaster recovery and reverse demand planning and testing. Support multiple big bill events on a month over month basis to collect and feed/report earned premium ($6Billion or more) to Corporate General Ledger. Take ownership to drive innovation for effectively leveraging technology to solve the customer problem. Drive end to end outcomes and SLA adherence.

Qualifications: Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 10 years of progressive, post baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. In addition, position requires 10 years of experience in the following skills: Oracle Revenue Management and Billing (ORMB); Oracle and SQL Server relational database technologies; SaaS products; Continuous integration and DevOps methodologies, including tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Rally, and SonarQube; and Agile methodology.

Salary Range: $147,430.00 to $172,080.00 per year.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
