Job description

Job Title: Senior Human Resources Manager - Americas

Location: San-Francisco

Salary: $130,000


SUMMARY

The Senior Human Resources Manager will oversee core HR functions in the region including compliance, payroll, employee relations, policy development, performance management, and workforce planning, ensuring full compliance with all applicable U.S. federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. The Senior Human Resources Manager will partner with our people managers to drive organizational effectiveness and employee engagement in the region. This role is an office-based role, travel throughout the region will be required.


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES


Employment Law Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws across relevant jurisdictions.

• Monitor and interpret changes in employment legislation at the federal, state, and local levels – proactively drafting policy updates to be reviewed by the senior HR team and implementing changes effectively throughout the region.

• Partner with legal counsel on employment related matters, including claims, audits, investigations, and litigation.

• Lead internal audits related to wage and hour compliance, employee classification, and pay equity.

• Oversee payroll processing

• Gather data and respond to/submit any reporting requirements


Employee Relations & Investigations

• Act as an advisor to management and employees on workplace issues, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution

• Handle complex employee relations issues with discretion and professionalism

• Conduct or oversee internal investigations related to employee grievances, conduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and policy violations

• Ensure investigations are conducted in a timely and fair manner, ensuring legal compliance and following best practice

• Conduct regular HR audits, ensuring compliance and best practice

• Support with immigration matters of current employees and potential candidates

• Proactively review and address absenteeism in the region

• Oversee performance management processes and support leadership in coaching and development

• Partner with the senior HR team to develop and implement HR strategies that support organizational goals


Compensation, Benefits & Leave Administration

• Manage compensation and benefits programs, including benchmarking and annual reviews

• Oversee administration of federal and state required leave (FMLA, state paid family and medical leave, military leave, jury duty)

• Ensure company benefit programs comply with relevant regulations (ACA, COBRA etc)

• Oversee the family leave programs and ensure employees are advised and supported throughout periods of leave


Culture and Employee Experience

• Assist with the design and implement culture strategies to develop and embed the company values

• Support with the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, and offboarding

• Manage employee engagement initiatives and deliver a positive workplace culture

• Promote a culture of compliance, fairness, and respect throughout the organization

• Coach and advise managers on leading teams in ways that reinforce company culture

• Act as a cultural ambassador who demonstrates and promotes company values and ethical leadership throughout the team

• Act as a visible, trusted HR presence, approachable to employees at all levels of the company

• Align onboarding with cultural values, performance expectations, and legal requirements


Additional

• Lead HR support for regional and multi state expansion, ensuring scalable employment practices, strong employee experience, and ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements

• Provide regular regional people reports to the senior HR team

• Provide training, guidance and manage the development of junior HR team members

• Collaborate with managers and the training team to ensure employees are receiving training to support their development and upskill the workforce

• Optimize HR processes and leverage HRIS systems for data-driven decision-making

• Assist with recruitment in the region by conducting HR stage interviews

• Build trusted and credible relationships with our global team, partnering with our people managers

• Carrying out other tasks as assigned

• Monitor HR metrics and provide insights to leadership, advising on suggested changes

• Optimize HR processes and leverage HRIS systems for data-driven decision-making

• Assist with workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational design initiatives

• Ensure the regional HR team manage all HR data and HRIS effectively

• Provide regional updates to senior HR team, and support the wider HR team with HR and people projects

• Work with senior leaders to assess current and future talent needs, including headcount planning, skills gaps, and succession risks

• Ensure all HR processes in the region are executed effectively and accurately

• Train and collaborate with people managers to ensure they are managing teams appropriately and aligned with company expectations and values


CANDIDATE PROFILE (Required)

• 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles

• Demonstrated expertise in federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices

• Experience supporting a multi state workforce

• Strong investigative, analytical, and problem solving skills

• Proven ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across teams and varying levels of seniority

• Experience with HRIS systems and data-driven decision-making

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

• Experience managing a small team


CANDIDATE PROFILE (Preferred)

• International human resource experience

• Certification (CIPD, SHRM, HRCI)

• Experience in support organizational growth and regional expansion
