Job description

Job Summary:

The Human Resource Information System Analyst will maintain the integrity and reliability of the organizations HRIS, ensuring applications meet the needs, requirements, and objectives of the HR department. Additionally, they will collect, compile, and analyze HR data, metrics, and statistics, and apply this data to make recommendations related to recruitment, retention, and legal compliance. This position also serves as a technical point-of-contact for the assigned functional area and assists subject matter experts with ensuring data integrity, testing of system changes, report writing and analyzing data flows for process improvement opportunities. Trains other HR members on HRIS systems and applications as needed. Works with payroll and benefits to develop reports for management. Serves as HR department liaison to IT function.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*:

  • Manages permissions, access, personalization, and similar system operations and settings for HRIS users.
  • Work with HR, finance, and IT to maintain and improve the HRIS, including configuration, end-user access, security, and system efficiency
  • Processes data change requests to update or correct data in the system and resolves issues and user access/security; documents and tracks customer inquiries and resolutions using an internal automated system.
  • Identifies and recommends reasonable short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics.
  • Recommends process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and/or major variations from established policy, which must be approved by appropriate leadership prior to implementation.
  • Generates reports/queries, including writing, maintaining, and supporting a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools. Assists in development of standard reports for ongoing customer needs. Helps maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data.
  • Compiles or assists with the acquisition of complex data reports, summaries, and logs for senior executives and HR staff.
  • Maintains awareness of current trends in HRMS with a focus on product and service development, delivery and support, and applying key technologies. Examines trends in information systems training, materials and techniques. Through classes, reading, CBTs or other mechanisms, continuously increases both HR knowledge and HRIS application/tools knowledge.
  • Prepares and presents summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information.
  • Assesses current system and utilization; identifies and recommends improvements such as training, customization, and enhancements to maximize value and efficiency of the HRIS.
  • Prepares reports and presents findings and recommendations to the HR director and other company leaders.
  • Identifies, recommends, and programs custom functions and documentation such as automated queries, filters, macros, and reports.
  • Assist HR leadership with staffing, recruiting, and departmental budgets.
  • May conduct or assist with conducting classification audits to ensure that jobs are properly classified as exempt or nonexempt.
  • May guide and/or assist with performance, benefit, and compensation review and evaluation processes.
  • Plans and communicates preferred methods and best practices for hiring, training, compensating, and evaluating employees.
  • Advises management on applicable state and federal employment regulations, benefits and compensation policies, human resource procedures, and collective agreements.
  • Prepares and presents summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information.
  • Assist with day-to-day HR Operations including safety, compliance, communication, etc. 
  • Other duties as assigned

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of all areas of information systems with a highly technical understanding of at least one commercial HRIS product.
  • Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Extensive knowledge of human resource laws, regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have ability to handle data with confidentiality.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field required.
  • At least three years of experience in related areas such as job classification and compensation, recruitment, selection, training, employee benefits, and/or equal opportunity compliance preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Previous ADP experience preferred.
