Position Summary
The HRIS & Payroll Specialist serves as an important role within the People & Culture team and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of payroll, HRIS, and related employee data processes and overall employee experience. This position manages full-cycle payroll administration, HRIS support, system integrations, reporting, workflow processes, and ongoing optimization of payroll and HR technology solutions.
The role ensures the accuracy of employee compensation, benefit deductions, retirement contributions, agency payments, taxes, and other payroll-related transactions while partnering with People & Culture, Finance, employees, benefit providers, retirement agencies, and vendors to resolve discrepancies and maintain seamless integration between payroll, benefits, timekeeping and HR systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • The duties listed herein are illustrative of the essential duties of the job and do not include other nonessential or peripheral duties that may be required or assigned.
  • Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), payroll systems, ticketing platforms, and related employee data systems.
  • Administer full-cycle payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation, deductions, benefits, retirement contributions, taxes, and other payroll-related transactions.
  • Maintain HRIS, payroll, and employee data integrity by reviewing records, identifying discrepancies, processing corrections, and ensuring accurate system information.
  • Manage payroll and HR system integrations with benefits providers, retirement plans, tax agencies, financial systems, and third-party vendors to ensure accurate and timely data exchange.
  • Configure, maintain, and support HR systems, including system settings, security access, workflows, business rules, user permissions, and system updates.
  • Monitor system interfaces, automated processes, data feeds, and integrations to ensure accuracy, reliability, and timely processing.
  • Administer and troubleshoot HR, payroll, timekeeping, benefits, and related system issues through ticketing platforms; track, prioritize, escalate, and resolve issues in partnership with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage vendor relationships and support cases by documenting issues, testing solutions, monitoring resolutions, and ensuring service expectations are met.
  • Process and reconcile payroll-related transactions, including employee deductions, benefit contributions, agency payments, employer-paid contributions, and system-generated transactions.
  • Support payroll audits, reconciliations, compliance reporting, and quarterly and year-end tax documentation.
  • Develop, maintain, and document HR system procedures, payroll processes, workflows, user guides, knowledge resources, and operational documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and streamline HR, payroll, and employee processes through automation, system enhancements, workflow improvements, and process optimization.
  • Design, test, implement, and validate system enhancements, configuration changes, integrations, and process improvements.
  • Create, maintain, and analyze payroll, HR, workforce, and system reports to support operational needs, audits, compliance requirements, and decision-making.
  • Partner with Finance, People & Culture, employees, managers, benefit providers, retirement agencies, vendors, and system partners to ensure accurate and compliant HR and payroll operations.
  • Provide training, guidance, and technical support to employees and managers regarding HR systems, payroll processes, ticket submissions, and related procedures.
  • Support personnel action processing and system updates to ensure employee changes are accurately reflected across HR, payroll, benefits, and related platforms.
  • Lead and participate in HR technology, payroll, and system improvement projects that enhance operational efficiency, data accuracy, and employee experience.
  • Recommend system solutions and process improvements that strengthen accuracy, compliance, service delivery, and organizational effectiveness.

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field preferred.

Work Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of experience administering HRIS, payroll systems, or related business applications.
  • Experience with UKG or similar enterprise HR platforms preferred.
  • Experience with system integrations, workflow automation, or reporting preferred.
  • Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Professional HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or other related credentials are preferred.

  • May require occasional work outside of normal business hours to support system upgrades, testing, or payroll deadlines.
  • Requires discretion and confidentiality when handling employee, payroll, and organizational data.
