Assistant Manager for Access Control

Title: Assistant Manager for Access Control

Position Purpose:

Serving as the primary point of contact for the Access Control Office, the Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in upholding policies and procedures that align with best practices and industry standards. This position provides an exciting opportunity to support access control systems while promoting a compassionate, respectful, and inclusive environment.

Job Duties:

  • Technical Proficiency: Become proficient in all office functions including electronic access (ID cards), key management, hardware repair, CCTV, and associated software.
  • Safety & Risk Management: Maintain campus security through diligent access control and risk assessment.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to students, faculty, staff, vendors, and guests.
  • Collaboration: Serve as the primary backup for the Electronic Access System Manager and collaborate with IT, HR, Facilities, and Residential Operations.
  • Vendor Management: Maintain relationships with external contractors and vendors.
  • Process Improvement: Work with the Project Coordinator and Student Affairs IT Systems Manager to document software functions and improve procedures.
  • Systems Maintenance: Ensure systems are functional and updated with the latest security protocols.
  • Budgeting: Manage the access control budget, expenditures, and charges for lost items (keys, IDs, etc.).
  • Training: Provide training to Campus Safety dispatch on systems such as Lenel and Simple K, and participate in HR training and onboarding for new employees.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Experience

  • 3+ years in a professional office setting coordinating multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Experience working within a complex environment with frequently shifting priorities.
  • Experience navigating difficult or stressful situations with multiple stakeholders.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Commitment to equity and inclusion, and serving the needs of a culturally and educationally diverse community.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, and data management systems; willingness to master security-specific software.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills with a high level of discretion.
  • Strong ability to build collegial relationships; flexible, collaborative, and positive attitude.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
