Job Purpose

The Science Teacher is responsible for instructing students at various grade levels in the principles and applications of science. They will design and deliver engaging lesson plans, assess student progress, and create a positive and inclusive learning environment. The Science Teacher may specialize in one or more branches of science, such as biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, or environmental science.


Duties and Responsibilities

Primary job duties and responsibilities:

  • Develops and adapts curriculum materials and lesson plans that align with state or national educational standards.
  • Delivers effective and engaging science lessons to students, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and resources.
  • Designs and administers assessments (e.g., quizzes, exams, projects) to evaluate student understanding and progress.
  • Identifies and addresses individual learning needs by providing additional support or challenges to students as necessary.
  • Organizes and supervises laboratory experiments and activities to enhance students' practical understanding of scientific concepts.
  • Maintains a well-organized and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Incorporates technology, such as computer simulations and interactive tools, into teaching to enhance learning experiences.
  • Ensures the safety of students during lab experiments and activities, following established safety protocols.
  • Communicates regularly with students, parents, and administrators regarding students' progress and behavior.
