Summary:
The Mission of the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is to create a model correctional system that provides equitable access to programming and opportunities that reflect a community experience, foster connections, and restore victims of crime. IDOC has a vacancy for a Computer Lab Instructor, at the Idaho State Correctional Center (ISCC) in Kuna, Idaho. Applicants must be willing to work in a Correctional environment, and the incumbent will be required to work in direct contact with residents both one-on-one and in a group setting. The desirable candidate should have experience in supervising and maintaining a computer lab and server, which would include being able to install, upgrade, configure, and replace both hardware and software.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide individual and group instruction in a Computer Lab and evaluate student progress.
2. Help residents in a state correctional facility complete computer application certificates and support other education opportunities using college and career readiness standards.
3. Monitor student's behavior to maintain discipline and ensure safety and security of staff, equipment, materials, and other students.
4. Provide IT support for classroom computers.
5. Supervise and maintain a Computer Lab through knowledge of computer maintenance and educational software.
6. Install, upgrade, customize and remove software.
7. Perform diagnostics of hardware.
Minimum Qualifications: Your resume needs to clearly articulate how your skills, education and experience meet the qualifications below -
1. Eligible for Idaho Standard Secondary Education Certificate; OR Eligible for Occupational Specialist Certificate; OR have a Bachelor's degree and at least two years' experience teaching individuals in a group setting.
2. Must be willing to work in a correctional facility.
Specialty Qualifications:
  1. Some positions require: Idaho Exceptional Child Certificate. Occupational Specialist Certificate. Specific academic endorsements. Special Education Instructor - Must possess a Special Education Certificate. In accordance with Title 33 Education, 33-1202 Eligibility for a Certificate, 22-1204 Accredited Teacher Training Requirements, 33-1204 Validity, Duration, Renewal, and Lapse of Certification (https://legislature.idaho.gov/statutesrules/idstat/title33/t33ch12/) as required for hire within 3 years.

Desirable Qualifications:
1. A current Idaho teaching license is strongly encouraged.
2. Experience in supervising, instructing, and training students in a computer lab.
3. Experience maintaining lab computers to ensure proper working order.
4. Able to work well with largely non-technical clientele and able to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff with differing levels of computer knowledge.
5. Experience in network configuration and maintenance.
6. Familiarity using educational technology/tools (Google Workspace, Sheets, Docs, etc.).
