Job description

Job Description:

  • Seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, hands-on and result oriented Electrical Engineer to leverage deep knowledge of electrical and embedded software technology to sustain our service parts and upgrade businesses.


Responsibilities:

  • Design - develop hardware and software for use in control systems, for example human-machine interface devices, power electronics (drives), door operators.
  • Test - Design and maintain test process including hardware, software and documentation for evaluating the performance of electrical hardware; perform calculations, estimations and laboratory tests required to verify the soundness and suitability of a design; assist in creation of drawings for manufacturing of new parts and products.
  • Quality - Lead investigation of field turnbacks and perform root cause failure analysis of electrical, electromechanical and electronic parts and circuitry. Closely work with electronics repair shop to flow data regarding component failures to engineering, ensuring robust closed-loop feedback to the design process. Lead service voice of the customer in new product development to suggest corrective actions to new products to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Supply Chain - Support parts availability, quality and sourcing sustainment for internal & contract manufacturers, driving dual sourcing and cost savings activities for electronics. Preparation of specifications, design of functional test equipment, and support of internal/external initiatives.
  • Support / Sustainment / Upgrades - Develop replacement solutions for components or subsystems which may become obsolete or difficult to obtain. Ability to thoroughly research legacy design functions, listen to the voice of the customer and determine new design requirements that enable backwards compatibility, improved quality and more valuable features for the customer.
  • Parts / Information Management - Create and update spare parts information and related documents in support of field operations and OSC Customer Service.


Requirements:

  • Strong Electrical Engineering knowledge and aptitude, including, analog / digital design, power electronics, serial communication interfaces RS422/RS485/CAN, signal integrity , sensor and instrumentation signal conditioning, battery backup and UPS systems
  • Working knowledge of programming languages in embedded design applications , C, VB.NET, C#, C++,Assembly, MATLAB. Intimate knowledge of communication protocols SPI, I2C,I2S, UART, CAN, USB
  • Direct PCBA design experience. Ability to design custom microprocessor / DSP based boards for button interface, touch screens, LCD TFT display modules, and various other subsystems.
  • Fluency with electrical engineering CAD tools such as Altium , Orcad, KiCAD or EGALE
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory instruments and test equipment including oscilloscope, curve tracer, logic analyzer.
  • Technical leadership - ability to mentor, guide and grow junior engineers, leading critical design reviews and driving structural improvements to department processes.
  • This function requires strong verbal and written communication skills

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or comparable field
