Job description

Steel Dynamics
  • Design, maintain, support an upgrade a Virtualized and Windows Server Infrastructure.
  • Installing, configuring and administrating Software and Computer Hardware
  • Document and Maintain Back Ups of all critical physical and virtualized Servers, Storage Devices, Computing Systems, etc. for Disaster Recovery and daily support requirements
  • Maintain all aspects of the Active Directory environment and Office 365 permissions and licenses
  • Maintain all aspects of the Cyber Security platform (Antivirus, Threat Protection, Encryption, etc)
  • Follow corporate and division best practices related to Information Security applied to Servers, Storages, Computing Units within the IT Infrastructure
  • Monitor Server Infrastructure performance, integrity and availability.
  • Keep the Server Infrastructure with updated OS patches and software releases
  • Coordinate and communicate with external vendors/internal customers regarding issues with the different platforms related to Virtualized Environment, Servers, Storage, and Back Up devices
  • Purchase/Upgrade Virtualized Platform, Servers, Storage, and Back Up devices
  • Creating technical documents that outline the Virtualized Server Infrastructure for reference and knowledge, IP’s, , guidelines, process maps, and flows respective to each program, function, procedure of the solutions developed.
  • Work with the end-user to interpret business requirements
  • Collaborate with other members of the IT Team to resolve existing issues with the Server Infrastructure
  • Act as back up resource for the Network Engineer job responsibilities
  • Follow guidelines and directions from immediate supervisor to prioritize requirements based on business impact
  • Provide 24/7 on call or on-site support in cases required

  • 5+ Years of Experience in managing and maintaining a Server Infrastructure
  • 3-5+ Years of Experience in administering VMWare/Citrix Virtual Infrastructure
  • BS in Computer Systems or similar or 5+ years of work experience in the related field
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and resolving Server and Systems related issues
  • Understanding of Virtualized and Windows Server platforms
  • Knowledge of Information Security best practices for Server and Computer devices
  • Microsoft and VMWare Certifications preferred
