Job description

Description:

As U.S. Hunger’s Graphic Design & Print Production Intern, you’ll assist in bringing our brand to life through compelling visual storytelling. This hybrid role focuses on both graphic design and hands-on print production, supporting the creation and delivery of digital and physical visuals for events, campaigns, and organizational initiatives. From social media graphics to print-ready signage and packaging materials, you’ll help ensure brand consistency across all platforms while gaining real-world experience in both design and creative operations.

You’ll work closely with the in-house Creative Lead and collaborate with departments across the organization. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, eager to learn, and excited to roll up their sleeves in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Main Responsibilities

Graphic Design
  • Assist in designing engaging visuals for print and digital platforms (social media, email campaigns, presentations, brochures, signage, etc.)
  • Assist with layout design, typography, and visual formatting in alignment with U.S. Hunger’s brand guidelines
  • Learn to prepare and export design files optimized for both digital publishing and professional print production
  • Assist with basic photo editing and video thumbnails

Creative Production

  • Assemble and package creative materials for events, campaigns, and mailings (banners, signs, shipping kits, handouts, etc.)
  • Assist in quality-checking and preparing print orders (crop marks, bleeds, resolution, etc.)
  • Help organize and manage creative assets and printed material inventory

These essential job functions are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed. Interns will be required to perform other job-related duties as required.

Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design or a related field—or equivalent coursework/experience
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite — Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
  • Familiarity with Canva
  • Understanding of layout, typography, and color theory
  • Experience preparing files for print (CMYK vs. RGB, bleeds, margins, etc.)
  • Has the ability to support UI/UX projects by creating mockups and user-friendly visual components (Preferred, not required)
  • A strong design portfolio showcasing your creativity and technical skill (Required)

Soft Skills

  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Excellent time management with the ability to handle multiple projects at once
  • Self-starter who can work independently and take initiative
  • Open to feedback and eager to learn in a team-oriented environment

Physical Environment

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs when assisting with print materials or event prep
  • Requires sitting, typing, writing, and visual work at a computer for extended periods
  • Requires clear verbal and written communication
  • May include occasional local travel to assist with onsite creative production or event materials
