Job Description
The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and supporting student learning in assigned Computer Engineering Technology courses. Adjunct faculty teach courses in accordance with college policies and curriculum requirements, maintain accurate student records, and contribute to student success through effective classroom and laboratory instruction. Adjunct faculty are hired on a semester-by-semester basis as instructional needs arise.
POOLING APPLICANT NOTICE:
This job posting is being used to capture a pool of qualified adjunct faculty candidates. Adjunct faculty are part-time, non-salaried faculty who are paid for each class taught and are hired on an as-needed basis. An adjunct job posting does not imply an open position exists at this time. The need for adjunct faculty changes from semester to semester and should be considered temporary in nature. Applications for an adjunct position will remain active for one (1) year and will be evaluated only when a specific class need occurs.
Essential Responsibilities
- Instruction & Curriculum Development:
- Teach assigned courses in accordance with the NCCCS Combined Course Library course descriptions.
- Develop and revise curriculum to ensure alignment with industry standards and accreditation requirements.
- Provide students with a course syllabus that includes measurable learning objectives and expected outcomes.
- Incorporate technology and innovative teaching methodologies to enhance student learning.
- Maintain a classroom environment (online and/or face-to-face) conducive to learning and report any issues in a timely manner.
- Utilize the LMS as appropriate for the course modality.
- Participate in on-going curriculum review and formal evaluation, implementing necessary improvements.
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and grade reporting.
- Submit reports and records according to established schedules.
- Safeguard and maintain instructional and office equipment, reporting any irregularities.
- Assist in textbook selection, resource procurement, and inventory management.
- Use college systems such as Self Service for academic administration.
- Student Support & Advising:
- Provide academic advising, mentoring, and career guidance to students.
- Assist students in developing educational plans and verifying readiness for graduation.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback and support.
- Schedule and maintain regular student contact hours and make office hours available to students.
- Contact students who are absent from class to encourage engagement and retention.
- Assessment & Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in course and program assessment to evaluate learning outcomes and effectiveness.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance instructional quality and student success.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation, state, and institutional policies.
- Professional Development & Collegial Engagement:
- Participate in professional development opportunities, including conferences, workshops, and training.
- Stay current with developments in the discipline and instructional best practices.
- Attend all scheduled faculty meetings unless a class conflict occurs.
- Engage in departmental meetings, committees, and institutional initiatives.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support institutional goals and community partnerships.
- Service & Community Engagement:
- Support college-wide initiatives, student activities, and recruitment efforts.
- Engage in outreach efforts that connect students with local industries and employers.
- Serve on institutional committees and participate in program advisory boards.
- Contribute to partnerships with businesses, advisory boards, and community organizations.
- Attend annual graduation exercises and participate in college events and activities.
- Additional Computer Engineering Technology Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and organized lab environment and enforce proper safety procedures, including safe use of tools, equipment, and electronic devices.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain lab spaces, computer systems, networking equipment, software, tools, components, and materials for hands-on instruction.
- Inspect equipment and report maintenance, repair, upgrade, and replacement needs in a timely manner.
- Manage program supplies, computer components, peripherals, software, tools, consumables, and inventory related to instruction.
- Demonstrate proper installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, networking devices, and related systems.
- Supervise student work in lab settings and maintain a clean, organized, and instruction-ready environment.
- Assist students with skill development and preparation for industry credentials and employment in computer and related technology fields.
- Perform other program-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering Technology or related field from a regionally accredited institution with a work experience in computer repair, networking, or programming; or a Master's Degree in Computer Engineering Technology or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant teaching experience in a community college setting, preferred.
Part-time positions are not benefit eligible.
