Job description

Are you a results-driven, team-oriented leader? This is the opportunity for you! As a Project Manager I, you will manage projects from design through release and program closeout, ensuring successful delivery to customers. You will develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and interface with internal and external stakeholders on technical matters. This role typically involves managing simpler projects and serves as an introduction to people management.
The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains - air, land, sea, space and cyber.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage projects from design to release, including project initiation, execution, delivery, and closeout.
  • Develop, define, and execute project plans, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Identify necessary resources for projects and coordinate their allocation.
  • Interface with internal and external customers or field-based employees on technical matters.
  • Serve as a Control Account Manager on larger programs as needed.
  • Track and brief project progress against milestones, budgetary guidelines, and other performance indicators..
  • Prepare reports to keep stakeholders informed of project status.
  • Adapt to changes and remain flexible to ensure project success.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in project management and/or in a related or technical field, internships not included in total years of experience.
  • Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 6 years of related experience is required.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a project.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills & capability to meet schedules.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Basic understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), or similar tool.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management principles, including cost/schedule variance analysis and development of Estimates at Completion (EACs).
  • Experience with managing projects in production and manufacturing environments.
  • Experience managing project scope and scope creep during project execution.
  • Experience in resource planning and management during project execution.
  • Experience with risk management planning and documentation.
  • Familiarity with government contracting and regulations.

Essential Functions:
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
