Hexagon Autonomous Solutions is searching for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support product development activities and mechanical design best practices. In this role you will have the opportunity work on a wide variety of product designs. The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based in the oceanside community of Torrance, CA. One of the best places to live in California with ocean beaches, plenty of parks and endless sunny days.
Responsibilities
As Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will:
  • Contribute to the design of new and existing antenna products by creating, modifying and updating CREO models and drawings for antenna components, test fixtures, assembly tools, and verification test mounts
  • Perform tolerance stackups, select appropriate commercial off the shelf components, and analyze designs for survivability in various environmental conditions
  • Champion continuous improvement by updating product designs to include engineering best practices, ensuring documentation is accurate and includes necessary GD&T
  • Create and maintain item numbers and BOMs in material resource planning (MRP) tool (Syteline)
  • Document new product designs and changes through Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), process ECOs through the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool Windchill
  • Support sales, product management, and operations by addressing customer questions, completing feasibility studies, and troubleshooting issues

Qualifications
Must-Have:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; progress towards a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Experience with CAD modeling softwares, CREO (Pro/Engineer) preferred
  • Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stackup analysis, and material strength calculations
  • Applicants for select positions that require access to information controlled by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations ("ITAR") or the Export Administration Regulations ("EAR") must be US Persons per ITAR ยง120.15 and EAR ยง772.1 (i.e., a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or admitted to the U.S. as an asylee or refugee), or be otherwise eligible to obtain required authorization from the U.S. Government to access controlled information. Employment is contingent upon Antcom's ability to obtain such required authorization for the applicant

Hexagon's Autonomy & Positioning division provides the following compensation range and a general description of other compensation and benefits. This compensation range is based on a full-time schedule. The Company reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range or offer other compensation depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state or federal law. Hiring Salary Range: : $20 - $25 per hour
