This is an on-site internship at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC). The Weather Systems team is responsible for providing second-level engineering support for two different weather radars. The TDWR (Terminal Doppler Weather Radar), and the WSR-88D (Weather Surveillance Radar 1988 Doppler), along with several other weather sensors/platforms, such as the AWOS (Automated Weather Observing System). Citizenship Requirement All candidates must have the following to pass the Federal Background Investigation and obtain the FAA Public Trust security clearance. * Be a US Citizen. * Have resided in the US for three (3) consecutive years. * RealID Driver's License/ID or current US Passport. Relocation Requirement Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance to Oklahoma City, OK. Education & Experience Requirement * Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field from a U.S. Accredited Institution. * Having completed a minimum of 48 STEM related courses. Required Skills * Knowledge and understanding of the importance of testing during all phases of the software development process. * Proficiency with computer operating systems (UNIX, AIX, or Linux), software and hardware with proven ability to debug complex systems and to conduct reviews, audits, and testing. * Proficient with simulation tools used for analysis (Matlab, Simulink). * Proficient in programming languages and scripts used in model and tool development (C, C++, Python). * Experience authoring technical documentation and providing technical support. * Ability to: * Work independently, as well as a team. * Multi-task across teams in a structured environment. * Research and problem solve; willingness to learn/try new things * Communicate effectively through verbal and written communication; including developing technical documentation. Essential Daily Job Duties * Research, maintain, and enhance weather system software, including documenting and testing updates and new project components. * Draft, review, edit, and coordinate technical reports and drawings for approval.
Support government-directed modernization and enhancement efforts for weather systems. * Conduct market research and assess requirements for replacing end-of-life hardware. * Identify operational needs and drive the development and implementation of major process improvements. * Provide software development support using C, C++, Python, and related tools. * Support lab operations through maintenance, software development, and hardware integration activities. * Develop software solutions for configuring and interfacing with system devices and hardware.
