Responsibilities
This position encompasses in-depth system administration and technical project management responsibilities including the design, implementation, enhancement, maintenance and analysis of software systems.
The selected candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining database management systems for the Fare Enforcement /EAGLE Teams Division to combat both vandalism and fare evasion. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to collecting data from enforcement efforts and assessment of fare evasion to direct future deploy Special Inspectors and Fare Enforcement Agents in the most effective way ; Using pin mapping as a tool to adjust deployments showing evasion rates by locations and by collecting bus route and stop information geographically; creating database to track all overtime usage ensuring equitable distribution and its efficiency. In addition, this position will provide support to the Department's new initiative Onboard Validator Device (OVD), new application app to validate proof of payment made by customers ensuring electronic issue summon data is captured accurately.
Education and Experience
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in computer science or a related computer field and two years of satisfactory, fulltime computer software experience in computer systems development and analysis, applications programming, database administration, maintenance and support, systems programming, data communications, mainframe development, mobile development and/or web development and design, one year of which must have been in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project in one or more of the acceptable areas; or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory, full-time computer software experience as described in "1" above, one year of which must have been in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project in one or more of the acceptable areas; or 3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. College education may be substituted for up to two years of the required experience in "2" above on the basis that 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university is equated to one year of experience. A master's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or a related computer field, or a certificate of at least 625 hours in computer programming from an accredited technical school (post high school), may be substituted for one year of the required experience in "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least a four- year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and at least one year of satisfactory full-time experience in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project in one or more of the acceptable areas.
