JUNIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Position mission: Perform assigned software sustainment, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and configuration tasks under senior engineering direction.
Duties:
  • Develop or modify assigned software components, scripts, configurations, or interfaces.
  • Support WebSphere and DB2 application integration.
  • Review application and middleware logs.
  • Reproduce defects and document technical findings.
  • Support corrective changes and routine sustainment.
  • Develop or execute functional, integration, regression, patch, and deployment tests.
  • Maintain test records, configuration information, and technical documentation.
  • Support test-data preparation and control.
  • Verify assigned functions following approved changes.
  • Assist with production implementation and post-deployment validation.
  • Escalate architecture, security, data-integrity, and production-readiness issues to senior personnel.
  • Support CyberArk integration testing or PAM-related technical troubleshooting when assigned.

MANDATORY SECURITY ARCHITECTURE COMPLIANCE (DoD 8570 / DoD 8140)

    Candidate must hold ONE active, verifiable commercial certification from the approved DoD 8570/8140 IASAE Level I list below. Please include your certification number and expiration date directly on your resume draft:

    • CISSP (or Associate) – Certified Information Systems Security Professional
    • CSSLP – Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional
OR
  • OPTION B (8140):
    Candidate must hold a relevant software or engineering degree (Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Information Technology) AND demonstrate documented, hands-on professional experience developing backend application components, managing software release testing, or validating infrastructure configurations within a controlled environment.
Requirements:
  • Actual development, scripting, configuration, test, or application-support duties.
  • WebSphere, DB2 integration, or enterprise Java/middleware exposure where applicable.
  • Defect analysis using logs or debugging tools.
  • Controlled development/test environment experience.
  • Formal change-ticket or release participation.
  • Candidate-authored code, scripts, test records, configuration documents, or technical procedures. 
Anticipated start: September 28, 2026
Primary work location: Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. Occasional work at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.
Work schedule: An eight-hour shift scheduled between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time, Monday through Friday. The team must collectively provide overlapping coverage during that window. COOP support may be required, but work will remain within a 40-hour workweek unless the Contracting Officer authorizes otherwise.
Project Length: Up to 4.5 years
