Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled MCAD Designer II to support mechanical and electrical engineering teams in the development of high-quality, accurate, and ASME-standard compliant 3D models and drawings. This role is responsible for transforming concepts, sketches, and engineering redlines into complete technical documentation using advanced CAD tools. The ideal candidate possesses strong modeling skills, deep knowledge of industry standards, and experience with configuration and documentation control environments.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
  • Review engineering concepts, sketches, and redlines to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings.
  • Use SolidWorks to create accurate mechanical designs and assemblies.
  • Ensure all designs and drawings meet project requirements, internal standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Perform basic design checks; Participate in drawing reviews
  • Maintain and organize CAD data within SolidWorks PDM and other configuration management tools.
  • Support Product Lifecycle Management activities, including change processes, BOM updates, and document release workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to verify design intent and resolve model or drawing issues.
  • Apply GD&T and ensure compliance with ASME Y14.00-series drawing standards.
  • Create and maintain drawing templates, symbols, and documentation structures to support engineering efficiency.
  • Utilize ERP systems such as Epicor or other to view BOMs, where used or other functions.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent technical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in mechanical CAD design or drafting roles.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and Solidworks PDM
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.00-series drawing standards.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems, engineering change processes, and BOM structures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly document design intent.

Preferred Attributes
  • Experience generating documentation in Visio.
  • Experience using Epicor or similar ERP systems preferred.
  • Experience with Solidworks and Creo
  • Exposure to FEA tools or simulation workflows.
  • Experience with 3D printing processes or related software.
