Part-time-Library Assistant-Adult-George Memorial
  • Assist the full-time staff at one of the library's reference desks.
  • Provide answers to reference questions, referring complicated or difficult questions to the full-time staff.
  • Assist patrons in using the public computers to access the public catalog, locate circulation accounts, and access the Internet and databases.
  • Help in other areas of the library as required, such as doing programming for adults, assisting at the circulation desk, or helping out at other reference desks. Complete assigned shelf-reading duties (keeping the shelves in order).
  • Complete book and AV processing or other duties as assigned.
  • Attend reference training and other educational programs on a continuing basis, as they are available.
  • Study the databases, Online Resources, and reference-book collection on a regular basis in order to ensure familiarity with all of the library's information resources.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires high school diploma and 48 credit hours of college, relevant experience working with adults in groups preferred; typing and keyboarding skills; computer skills involving use of the internet and database searching; good communication skills and ability to interact easily with staff and public; ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift library materials up to 25 pounds.
SALARY: Part-Time $15.30 per hour, 24 hours per week.
