At Otis, we move people safely and reliably through products and technologies used in elevators, escalators, and connected building systems. As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to support the design, development, testing, and validation of electronic systems used in Otis products.
This internship provides hands-on experience across the product development lifecycle while contributing to real engineering projects. The intern will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and gain exposure to hardware design, embedded systems, laboratory testing, documentation, and engineering best practices. Intern will be assigned projects and mentor/s during their internship.
Internship assignments may include:
  • Support the design and development of electronic hardware
  • Assist with creating schematic reviews, component selection, and engineering design documentation.
  • Participate in laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and validation of prototypes and production hardware.
  • Assist in developing automated test equipment, test fixtures, harnesses, and laboratory setups.
  • Support product qualification, certification, and compliance testing activities under engineering guidance.
  • Work with cross-functional global teams including systems, software, mechanical, and field engineering.
  • Participate in engineering reviews, design discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow engineering laboratory safety practices and company procedures.

Education:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline, or currently pursuing a master's degree in powerelectronics.

Preferred candidate profile:
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies.
  • Experience with electronics projects through coursework, research, clubs, internships, or personal projects.
  • Interest in product development, power electronics, IoT, embedded systems, or electrical testing.
  • Familiarity with PCB design and simulation tools is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

The hourly range for this role is $25/hr to $30/hr. We may pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may change in the future. Pay within the salary range will be based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
