Job description

Principal Duties:
This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the fleet equipment supporting paving and quarry operations.
Diagnoses mechanical, electrical, air and hydraulic problems in mobile or stationary equipment to identify and perform necessary repairs.
Performs general overhaul and repair work on equipment with diesel, gasoline, or air engines.
Performs adjustments and repairs to brakes, transmissions, ignition and lighting systems, cooling and heating systems, and air and hydraulic systems.
Performs structural repair and fabrication employing a variety of welding techniques with a variety of metal specifications.
Diagnoses and performs emergency repairs on stationary and mobile equipment.
Communicates with Foreman and co-workers on diagnosis and repairs.
Prepares written reports and records.
Complies with all OSHA and MSHA regulations, Company hazard and safety regulations, and pertinent DOT regulations.
Performs other duties as directed.
Promotes awareness of and follows Company and general safety policies.
Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the workplace.
Principal Requirements:
5 years proven experience in heavy equipment repair of both mobile and stationary equipment (rolling equipment/plants).
Able to be self-motivated and task orientated.
Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly.
Good organizational and communication skills.
Valid driver's license and favorable traffic abstract.
CDL license type A preferred, Minimum Type required.
ASE Training preferred.
Proficiency with Cummins INSTIGHT, CAT ET (Electronic Technician), and GM and Ford Diagnostics Computer systems to conduct research for parts and diagnostics.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime as required by the paving/customer schedules
We primarily employ carpenters, laborers, and operating engineers. We are signatory to collective bargaining agreements with the following unions listed below and are subject to the hiring rules of each collective bargaining agreement. We anticipate hiring for projects on Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai as work becomes available and will be contacting the respective union to fill these positions:
