Job description

Position Overview: The CAD Drafter is responsible for creating technical drawings to be used in the production of various types of Cold Storage Construction projects.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and update project schedules; manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Create Construction/Shop drawings using 2D or 3D drafting software programs.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and other programs to develop layout and diagrams, with attention to detail.
  • Consult ICC/California Building Codes, technical handbooks and guidelines and assist with research and code compliance.
  • Assist with the completion of drawings re-lined by Project Managers and City Officials.
  • Create drawings for industry specific projects based on preliminary sketches, concepts and data.
  • Prepare, modify and maintain accurate catalog drawings from existing and new products for production and quality control.
  • Prepare product assembly or construction drawings for existing/new products as needed for sales staff and special drawings for plant projects as needed.
  • Must be comfortable in a support role and to follow instruction of Managers accurately and efficiently.
  • Scan and keep construction documents orderly and updated.
  • Be able to multi-task and willing to continually learn and accept additional responsibilities
  • CAD Drafter will:
  • Work directly with Owner, Sr. Construction Coordinator, Engineers and Field Supervisors.
  • Be able to prepare working construction documents, (primarily Architectural with some structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical).


Requirements:

  • 2+ years recent experience in related use of AutoCAD software (Bluebeam a plus)
  • Have knowledge and be familiar with basic construction document requirements and the permitting process (cold storage construction a plus).
  • Self-motivated with good written and oral skills
  • Must possess the ability to read and interpret sketches, construction, and civil plans.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to handle several projects at once with minimum help or guidelines from department from start to finish.
  • Proficient in all segments of Microsoft Office, (Excel/PowerPoint and word a plus).
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Possess a current California Driver’s License
  • An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or technical school is a plus.
  •  Ability to prioritize projects, work against deadlines and organize work flow with multiple interruptions.
  • Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints.
  • Time management and organization skills are critical. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Possibility of Lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of up to 50lbs.
  • Have the ability to sit, stand and walk for up to 8 (or more) hours a day.
  • Some tasks require the ability to perceive sounds and visual cues or signals. (Commute/travel as needed)
