Job description

TASK DESCRIPTION: Responsible for supporting the Oracle databases and ensuring their performance, availability and security. Ensures the availability and performance of the KAMP, KASP and SAME databases that support these systems. TASK REQUIREMENT: Ensure the availability and performance of the KAMP, KASP and SAME databases that support these systems.

Work with the IT team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance. Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime. Responsible for providing trend analysis to the service management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.

Responsible for problem escalation to the KAF as appropriate. Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades. Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team TASK PREREQUISITES: A BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.

Professional experience will consist of 5+ years of applications development, including team leader, systems analyst, and programmer. Significant (5+ years) experience in 4GL may be substituted for the college degree requirement. Proven Oracle Database Administration experience.

Experience of working in a team that delivers a high availability service. Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service. Experience of other database systems, preferably SQL Server Practical experience in managing the internal and external MS SQL database security Oracle Certification, preferably OCP LAN experience using Windows NT an asset.

Knowledge and recent experience implementing OLTP systems utilizing TCP/IP Protocol with Windows NT highly desirable. Experience with client server applications highly desirable. Task 40256 (Cont) No security clearance required.
