  • Sets up and supports DataStax Cassandra databases in mission critical environments
  • Applies full understanding of the business, the customer, and the solutions that a business offers to assist teams in data modeling, designing solutions that enable highly available, scalable, & reliable customer experiences.
  • Utilizes their deep knowledge of operations engineering, connected services, and information technology plus their knowledge of industry best practices to innovate and influence operational approaches and solutions.
  • Defines and implements standards using best practices for multi data center setup, backup and recovery, information security.
  • Participates in system performance evaluations
  • Evaluates and recommends improvements, products and tools for
  • Works shoulder to shoulder with some of the best Operations, Development and Test Engineers to improve their understanding of NoSQL databases, configuring the database for optimum performance and stability.
  • Effectively multi-tasks and works on significant assignments that are broad in scope and complexity, may cross several functional and organizational boundaries, and cover a wide range of issues
  • Develops and maintains automated, zero-downtime deployment capability in an always-on SaaS environment and implements repeatable and maintainable process/procedures
  • Develops and maintains monitoring solutions to aid in the rapid notification and resolution of incidents
  • Drives improvement within and across teams

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • 6+ year's experience as a Operations/ Customer support roles
  • 2+ years engineering transactional NoSQL (Cassandra) databases in a SaaS Environment

Successful candidate will have experience with:

  • Engineering, setting up, administering NoSQL (Cassandra) Databases
  • Building highly scalable application deployment architecture in AWS EC2
  • AWS Security and Cost Management
  • Respond to incidents to diagnose and restore service for APD's SaaS offerings
  • Design & configure monitoring with meaningful and actionable alerts
  • Develop living playbooks to improve repeatability and reduce incidents through automation
  • Develop real-time application dashboards showing overall system health
  • Reporting on applications performance, availability, reliability, etc.
  • Facilitate the creation of the Operational readiness documents
  • Technical design and implementation plans for application disaster recovery, migration, roll-back plans, expansion, routine deployments, and system upgrades
  • Implement process improvements and enhanced operational efficiencies
  • Experience with RedHat Linux, Apache, JBoss, Tomcat, Oracle, AWS Stack
  • Experience with Monitoring using: Splunk, dynaTrace, NewRelic, Keynote, SiteScope, Spectrum, Cacti
  • Experience with Deployment Automation using: Chef, Jenkins, Nexus, Git, Perforce, Maven, Docker, Ruby
  • Track record of strong technical acumen, courage for rapid decision-making, and bias for action
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively present information to varied technical audiences.
