Job Description:

I. Job Summary

The Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining databases in a corporate data services team that supports multiple database platforms, data integration, and business intelligence infrastructure.

II. Responsibilities

1. Build, monitor, and perform maintenance on DB2 LUW;

2. Member of team providing 24 x 7 on-call support to maintain .9999 availability;

3. Drive major projects and design technology strategies;

4. Define and validate DB standards;

5. Manage project intake, define scope, and provide labor estimates;

6. Mentor other engineers and coordinate daily activities and project assignments;

7. Provide security compliant database controls and reporting;

8. Provide support for physical database design;

9. Provide performance tuning and database optimization;

10. Provide technical support to IT staff for the application development and testing;

11. Assist developers in creating and fine tuning query statements;

12. Follows project management methodology in all phases of work performed.

13. Analyzes and recommends database changes to improve efficiency, lower costs, and enhance the quality of our business applications;

14. Author and validate DR plans;

15. Act as a primary point of contact to other domain leads.

III. Position Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent;

2. 7+ years extensive technical experience in a variety of IS areas, including: 5+ years DBMS. & 4+ years UNIX.

3. Advanced experience with DB2 LUW Databases

IV. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with DB2 HADR and Tivoli Systems Automation (TSA)

Experience in physical data modeling with IBM Infosphere Data Architect.

Experience with Database Administration Oracle DBMS;

Experience presenting to technical and non-technical staff;

Attention to detail for disaster recovery planning and testing;

Excel in a growing, changing, and collaborative environment.
