Job Description:

Title: Imaging Informatics Administrator
Shift: Day shift, 8-5 Monday – Friday. This position will be asked to take call and rotate through an on-call schedule when fully up to speed. Rotation would be every 4th week.

Location – Mixed Position needs to be onsite for specific activities but can support limited work from home days/hours as well
Responsibilities:
Function:
1. Project Management:

  • Assists in the planning and oversight of Imaging Informatics Systems.
  • Assists with the development of long range plans pertaining to Imaging and Cardiac Information Systems.
  • Performs project feasibility analysis, assessment and utilized project management tools to monitor project completion.

Systems Management:

  • Installs and supports the web browser component of PACS and CPACS systems in physician offices.
  • Assists with planning disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Uses available problem management and diagnostic tools, and plans efficient data migration.
  • Ensures data security and individual privacy is maintained.

Image Management:

  • Assists with the design of the environment for the viewing and interpretation of images.
  • Takes into account environmental and ergonomic factors.
  • Evaluates the human computer interface, and ensures compatibility between EMR/ RIS/ PACS and Dictation Integration systems.
  • Determines optimal image flow to ensure data integrity.

2. Training and Education:

  • Assists members of medical staff, hospital staff, and department staff in the operation of Imaging and Cardiac Information System applications.
  • Performs needs assessments, evaluates and selects training programs, and implements training and evaluates its effectiveness.

Procurement:

  • Assists with the organizational readiness assessment for infrastructure readiness.
  • Participates in RFP and vendor selection process, and supports vendor negotiations.

3. Operations:

  • Rotates weekly after hours on-call support with Imaging Informatics Administrator II
  • Responds to user inquires providing troubleshooting, problem call logging, password resets.
  • Corrects end-user errors and provides advanced training and education.
  • Corrects archive errors which prevent user access to the patient’s imaging record in various supported software (Images and Reports).
  • Performs daily maintenance, monitoring of processes, user assistance and support.
  • Trouble shoots and resolves system errors/ failures.
  • Maintains data integrity and makes changes within patient database.
  • Along with department management, develops appropriate department policies and procedures related to Radiology and Cardiology Information Systems in compliance with HIPAA, American
    College of Radiology and Joint Commission standards.
  • Assists in the design and implementation of quality improvement procedures, problem identification, and target areas for improvement.

4. Clinical Engineering:

  • Assists with the assessment of modality capabilities and integration
  • Assists with developing a program for image display quality control, and recognizes specific hazards specific to a healthcare environment.

Medical Informatics:

  • Assists in the identification and implementation of medical imaging standards.
  • Applies appropriate IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) guidelines, and integrates image architecture into organizations long range plans.

Information Technology:

  • Assesses storage and archiving needs and determines appropriate architecture.
  • Monitors long-term archive devices for performance and archival space.
  • Together with Information Services, designs and specifies network architecture and standards.
  • Implements and maintains appropriate hardware and software components.
  • Retrieves information from system, and develops appropriate replacement schedule.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience required, which may be a combination of experience in a large acute care setting and/or in Information Technology (Including networking, server
    operation, and multiple operating systems including UNIX).
Special knowledge, skills, &abilities:
  • Ability to communicate technical information to operational management, and to be persuasive in advocating for the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the Imaging Information systems.
  • Working knowledge of radiology and cardiology department workflow required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written required.

Education
Nonessential:

  • Bachelor Degree - "B.S. degree in radiologic technology or related field preferred OR eight
    years related work experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience where each year of education equates to two years of experience (four (4) years of experience will be substituted for an associate's degree and eight years of experience will be substituted for a bachelor's degree) Radiologic Technologist preferred.
  • Graduate from an AMA approved school of radiologic technology preferred.
