Job description


Job Summary:

The Supplier Development Co-op supports the Supplier Development Engineering (SDE) team at American Battery Solutions (“ABS”) by contributing to supplier performance improvement, capacity planning, and new supplier and product development activities. This role provides hands-on exposure to supplier operations, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Support supplier performance activities by assisting SDEs in monitoring quality, cost, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and delivery metrics.
  • Participate in new supplier reviews, onboarding and supplier qualification processes.
  • Support capacity planning and tooling readiness activities for new and existing suppliers.
  • Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, operations, and supplier teams to ensure alignment on project timelines and deliverables.
  • Track supplier readiness and support launch-related activities for new products.
  • Assist with data analysis, reporting, and development of presentations related to supplier performance and projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within supplier development processes.
  • Provide general administrative support as needed.
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance.


Position Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate student working towards a Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or other relevant degree.
  • Must be able to work between 15-29 hours per week.
  • Ability to work onsite during the summer and hybrid or remote during the school year.
  • Must possess and maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA.
  • Must fulfill 24 credit hours in one calendar year.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
  • Exceptional phone etiquette and capacity to always provide exceptional customer service.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Software, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Co-op students may be eligible to work up to four (4) years if enrolled in a college or university and fulfill the criteria noted above.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen.
  • May need to lift and carry up to thirty (30) pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/below knee level or reach overhead.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about in industrial environments, and on uneven terrain.
  • Works in a temperature-controlled office environment, with occasional work in outdoor weather conditions, and in industrial environments.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be moderately loud.
