Job Title: Repair Technician
Job Description

The Repair Technician performs skilled technical work focused on the diagnosis, repair, replacement, and rebuilding of aircraft oxygen tanks and systems within a regulated FAA repair station environment. This role uses specialized diagnostic equipment and tools, interprets technical documentation, and ensures all work complies with applicable safety, health, environmental, and aviation regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft oxygen tanks and oxygen system components in accordance with applicable technical data and regulatory requirements.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and a wide range of hand tools and trade-specific tools to inspect, test, and service components accurately and safely.
  • Apply principles and practices of electrical and electronics theory when working on relevant systems and components.
  • Interpret and follow technical manuals, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematics to perform repairs and ensure proper assembly and function.
  • Apply knowledge of equipment design and function to identify issues, determine corrective actions, and verify that repaired components meet required specifications.
  • Follow industry and government guidelines related to safety, health, and environmental practices, ensuring compliance with all FAA and internal procedures.
  • Assist with research and development of new repair capabilities, including reviewing and understanding new manuals and technical documentation.
  • Participate in on-site and off-site training as needed to support new repair processes and maintain technical proficiency.
  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of shop equipment, tools, and supplies to ensure a safe and efficient work area.
  • Make accurate computer entries and complete required maintenance documents, including Service Reports and FAA Form 8130-3, in accordance with FAA regulations and company policies.
  • Support production and repair schedules by performing assembly, disassembly, and component repair tasks efficiently and with high attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve technical issues and continuously improve repair processes and quality.
Essential Skills
  • Proven mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and work on complex mechanical systems and assemblies.
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools and trade-specific tools used for repair, assembly, and maintenance work.
  • Experience in component repair, including disassembly, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and reassembly.
  • Ability to apply basic electrical and electronics theory when working on applicable systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues with oxygen tanks and related systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical manuals, blueprints, mechanical drawings, and schematics.

Work Environment

The role operates primarily on a second shift schedule from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with a requirement to train on first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. before transitioning to second shift. The work involves standing, handling tools, and working around mechanical and electrical components while following strict safety, health, environmental, and regulatory procedures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
