Description
Platform Architecture is looking for a Performance Control Software Engineer to measure, analyze and control the relationship between power and performance in Apple’s most advanced systems. In this position, you will study the execution of workloads on Apple silicon across all Apple platforms and leverage that understanding to invent new operating system performance control features. You will design and conduct performance experiments, create instrumentation and data visualizations, prototype innovative in-kernel performance control algorithms, collaborate with teams ranging from the core operating system through user-facing applications, and productize the software that controls the performance of every workload executed on hundreds of millions of Apple products around the world.","responsibilities":"Design and conduct experiments to characterize execution efficiency and the effects of physical constraints such as temperature or current limits.
Use excellent empirical methodology to illuminate power-performance tradeoffs.

MS in Computer Science or Electrical and Computer Engineering or similar engineering degree.
Knowledge of computer architecture and hardware performance monitoring instrumentation.
Userland software development experience in environments such as C, C++, Swift or Python.
Minimum Qualifications
BS in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering or similar engineering degree.
Experience with operating system design and implementation.
System level or low level software development experience in C or C++.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $205,400 and $308,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
