This is a 9-month, non-tenure-track, teaching-focused position located on Tarleton's main campus in Stephenville, Texas, with a 5/5 course load. The position primarily supports BCIS 1305 (Business Computer Applications), a required core course for all undergraduate business majors, and BCIS 4350 (Management Information Systems), a required core course for all undergraduate information systems majors.
Summer appointment is dependent upon need and funding availability. Work hours: Mon-Fri 8 AM - 5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate. May be assigned to teach at various campus locations or through approved instructional modalities, as determined by the institution based on operational needs. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
The successful candidate will primarily support high-demand undergraduate instruction in core business technology and business communication courses serving all business majors, with additional courses assigned based on background, experience, and departmental need. The position contributes to high-impact teaching, student success, and career readiness through delivery of modern business communication curriculum emphasizing professional writing, oral presentations, interpersonal communication, and emerging communication technologies.
This posting will fill two positions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
100% Teaching and Service
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver undergraduate courses in Information Systems and related courses.
  • Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments such as exams, quizzes, papers, etc.
  • Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate student learning outcomes to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
  • Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking skills, and provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to students through office hours, feedback on assignments, and mentoring.
  • Adhere to university policies, academic integrity standards, and accreditation requirements related to teaching responsibilities.
  • Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities to stay current in the field, improve teaching skills, and explore instructional strategies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, departmental faculty, and university staff to coordinate course offerings, share resources, and contribute to program development and improvement.
  • Participate in institutional service roles, including but not limited to college committees, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.

Minimum Requirements
Required Education and Experience
  • Earned Master's degree in Management Information Systems, Business Administration with a focus on Information Systems, or related field from AACSB-accredited institution.
  • Minimum three years professional experience in information technology, systems management, or a related industry role.
  • Record of teaching excellence at the collegiate level.
  • Industry experience related to Information Systems; Experience using and applying modern technology systems and software in a business or professional environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively teach applied business technology concepts, including the use of spreadsheets, databases, and enterprise systems to support organizational decision-making. The candidate should possess strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to a broad range of students, as well as the ability to integrate current and emerging technologies into the classroom. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate organizational skills,
adaptability across teaching modalities, and a commitment to student success through timely feedback, engagement, and practical skill development aligned with workforce needs.
