Job Summary
This position will be responsible for coordinating and delivering instruction of Massage Therapy. This will include participation in content development, arranging lab and clinical experiences and maintaining supplies and equipment. Must work within the guidelines of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations.
Required Qualifications
Must possess a current Texas license to practice as a Massage Therapist
Must be a Licensed Massage Therapy Instructor (MTI) or be willing to obtain license within 6 months of hire
Minimum of two years of experience working as a Massage Therapist
Knowledge of Massage Therapy Basic Curriculum Outline, Standards of Practice, and Code of Ethics as defined by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR)
Knowledge of MBLEx exam content
Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College's insurance policy
Knowledge of basic computer applications, general office equipment, and equipment related to the massage practice
Strong organizational skills
Self-motivated, independent worker
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, both orally and in writing
Interest in working in a college setting
Ability to work effectively as a member of the instructional team
Preferred Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor degree in a health science related field
NCBTMB Board Certification
Experience teaching adult students
Experience teaching Massage Therapy
Essential Functions
Instruct Massage Therapy students in theory and skill for preparation of MBLEx exam and licensing
Establish and maintain a positive and effective relationship with students, staff, and community partners
Utilize a variety of effective and professional teaching techniques and methods to assist students in attaining the performance objectives of the course
Assist in development of course curriculum
Ensure accessibility of current and consistent guidelines, schedules and syllabi
Oversee skills lab experience
Participate in purchasing and inventory management of instructional supplies and equipment
Oversee student clinical or practicum experience in various community facilities including arranging and coordinating with sites
Prepare report of student success according to Midland College guidelines
Participate in promotional and recruitment activities
Assist in maintaining program standards of professionalism
Maintain budgetary compliance
Attend meetings as required by the Director
Observe the administrative policies and mission of Midland College
Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift, move, and/or carry up to 25 pounds
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
Use of manual dexterity
Primarily, indoor classroom, simulation laboratory, and community settings
Employee will come in direct contact with Midland College staff, students and the public
Ability to communicate with students, families, and team members
Repetitive use of a keyboard at workstation
Some travel to clinical sites is required
