Job description

Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms of every size to work smarter, faster, and more securely.

We are transforming the legal experience for all by bettering the lives of legal professionals while increasing access to justice.

Summary:

We're hiring a Senior Brand Designer to join our Creative team - someone who has moved beyond executing great work and is ready to shape what great looks like. This is a role for a designer who leads with strategy, earns trust in the room, and raises the bar for the work around them.

This role is available to candidates in Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver.

Who you are:

You're a senior creative who's done the reps and knows it, ideally across both agency and in-house environments. You've led complex, multi-channel brand work from brief to delivery, held your own in rooms with marketing leadership, and built systems that outlast any single project. You're not just executing a brand, you're evolving it. You think in systems and long-term direction, and you bring enough craft authority that your feedback makes the work better, not just different. You're ready to mentor, to shape culture, and to be a voice on the future of Clio's brand.

What you'll work on:
  • Set the visual direction on brand campaigns and multi-channel work as you lead the concept while executing within it.

  • Own the full arc of complex projects: stakeholder alignment, creative decision-making, and final delivery. You are accountable for the calls, not just the craft.

  • Drive the evolution of Clio's visual brand, identifying where it needs to grow and leading it there.

  • Architect visual identities and design systems for Clio sub-brands, building frameworks the broader team can scale from.

  • Shape creative strategy alongside cross-functional leaders in product marketing, demand gen, and events as you contribute beyond the brief.

  • Mentor junior and intermediate designers through feedback, process, and example while raising the team's high bar for their craft.

What you may have:
  • 5-8 years of brand design experience, with meaningful time across both agency and in-house environments

  • A portfolio that shows creative leadership - not just range, but evidence of direction-setting, systems thinking, and work that moved a brand forward

  • Proven ability to present and defend creative decisions to marketing leadership with clarity and conviction

  • Deep proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud, and a point of view on how tools should serve the work

  • Experience building design systems that others depend on and scale from

  • A track record of mentoring designers and shaping how a team works - not just what it produces

  • Comfort with AI design tools (Midjourney, Krea, or similar) as part of a senior creative practice

  • Deep typographic instincts, you have strong opinions and can back them up

  • Experience directing motion design - storyboarding concepts, defining look and feel, and guiding animators to deliver work that's on-brand and intentional

  • Fluency in presentation design (Keynote, Google Slides)

Serious bonus points if you have:
  • Experience leading brand work in SaaS, legal tech, or another complex, regulated industry

  • A history of owning agency relationships or leading external creative partners

If this is you, send us your portfolio and resume.

This is a new role.

  • $2000 annual counseling benefit

  • Clioversary recognition program with special acknowledgement at 3, 5, 7, and 10 years
