Computer Aided Design Technology involves using advanced CAD software to create detailed 2D and 3D models, often requiring formal education and certifications. Drafting Technicians focus on producing technical drawings based on specifications, typically with technical diplomas. While both roles work in design-related environments, CAD Technologists often handle complex modeling, whereas Drafting Technicians focus on precise technical drawings. Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right career path or job search focus.

What jobs can you do with computer-aided design?

Computer-aided design (CAD) skills open opportunities in fields such as architecture, engineering, product design, and manufacturing. Common roles include CAD technician, design engineer, drafters, and modelers, often requiring proficiency with CAD software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
