Position Purpose 
The CAD Technical Specialist – Manufacturing, contributes to and supports the Vision and execution of the Digital Design Tools Strategy.
This role is responsible for the creation, implementation and support of Inventor and AutoCAD digital assets in Vault and the establishment and support of CAD workflows in close coordination with the CAD Manager and Vault Admin.

This role will collaborate with key stakeholders as needed such as CAD Manager and Vault Admin, GTS, “Innovate” teams and Autodesk, to implement the initiatives, standards, libraries and tools set out by the Digital Design Tools Strategy and keep documentation relevant an up to date.

Responsibilities 

  • Assist the CAD Manager and Vault Admin to align workflows with broader engineering and manufacturing processes, ensuring seamless integration with the ERP system
  • Lead the maintenance of digital assets and libraries and collaborate with designers and fabrication staff to resolve model-to-build issues
  • Lead the ERP methods creation and maintenance of Digital Assets via modelling and detailing of libraries, and contribute to the assignment of Standard Part numbers via coordination with other CAD Technical Specialists and Inventory team members
  • Provide hands-on support to design engineers, ensuring adherence to CAD standards and effective use of up-to-date libraries
  • Contribute to the implementation of the decisions made by Digital Design Tools task groups
  • Continuously educate to keep-up with current software changes and remain on the leading edge of design efficiency
  • Perform assigned duties according to the policies and expectations prescribed by the company

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Technical Theater/Technology, Liberal Arts or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • 4+ years experience in a similar environment (Design, Engineering, Manufacturing)
  • Experience working with a PDM system desired – Autodesk Vault preferably
  • Experience drafting parts and assemblies, ideally in a parametric modelling tool
  • Experience developing digital assets libraries
  • Understanding of Vault and Inventor specific iLogic, Scripts and Customizations
  • Knowledge of TAIT-specific parts and products
