Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineer Structural Design / Sr. Principal Engineer Structural Design. The position is based in Oklahoma City, OK; Palmdale, CA; or Whiteman AFB, MO.

Essential Functions:

  • Work in a high-paced team environment to support program goals and schedule.
  • Develop solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives.
  • Provide MRB dispositions for primary and secondary structures.
  • Evaluate as-built products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
  • Clearly communicate and coordinate with other disciplines during the development of design solutions.
  • Present and explain structural issues and solutions to internal management and customer representatives concisely.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) equipment and technical applications such as CATIA and Teamcenter.
  • Develop layouts, sketches, and blueprints and investigate design factors such as damage tolerance, durability, design allowables, and structural modeling.
  • Identify design errors or deficiencies and make recommendations for changes.

This position can be filled at the Engineer Structural Design OR Sr. Principal Engineer Structural Design level, depending upon the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Engineer level: Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 1 year of related experience
  • Principal Engineer level: Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience OR a PhD in STEM and 1 year of related experience
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Experience in the design of bonded composite primary and secondary aircraft structures.
  • High level of proficiency using Unigraphics Nx or CATIA V5 in the development of aircraft structures and components

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active in-scope Secret or Top Secret clearance (last investigation within 5 years).
  • Experience working on Special Access Programs.
  • Experience working on military aircraft.
  • 5 years or more aerospace structural design experience using CATIA.
Primary Level Salary Range: $75,100.00 - $137,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $93,300.00 - $171,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
