Job description

RN - Med Surg/Telemetry

Shift: 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM, 3 shifts per week, 36 scheduled hours.

Start Date: 08/03/2026, End Date: 09/28/2026, Duration: 8 weeks.

Unit will accommodate first-timers with 2 years of experience. Patient diagnoses include chest pain, CAD, PVD, arrhythmias, DM, COPD exacerbation, PNA, HTN, MI, renal failure, PE, CHF, GI bleed, syncope. Potential for med-surg overflow (ex: GI bleed, sepsis, CVA, COVID +).

Special procedures/unit details: pre/post cath lab, PPM/AICD, ablations, vascular surgeries (CEAs, fem-pops), titration of drips (ex: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, heparin); sheath pulling at bedside. Every other holiday. Can be pulled to all other inpatient units. Unable to guarantee any specific scheduling requests (ex: block scheduling).

Special equipment: telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, PCAs, epidurals, wound vacs.

Required certs/skills: BLS, telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, on unit monitoring, CABG, chest tubes, post angiogram, MI, cardiac cath, and sheath removal, port accessing, blood product administration, central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management, starting IVs, titrate cardiac drips, titrate vasoactive drips, isolation precautions, wound care/management.

Travel compliance: Facility does not accept local travelers. Must be over 65 miles (address on driverโ€™s license to site address). Must have 2 years experience in specialty for all locations. (New Orleans operating room req. 3 years). NO CALL IN! RTO must be on profile and brought up in the interview or there is a high chance offer's will be rescinded. Compact or LA license in hand upon submittal. Allied candidates booked with pending license - candidate must apply for Allied Health licensure within 72 hours of signing. Orientation held 5 days a week. References: not required for submission, however 2 manager/supervisor references will be required to obtain clearance to start contract. Recruiter, please obtain manager/supervisor contact information prior to submission. Charge RNs are NOT acceptable. PDF format AHA certifications are required. AWHONN Intermediate is required for L&D RN. CPI required for all CNA. ER nurses must have CPI, or be able to get it before start. This cert is somewhat difficult to get, so please be prepared for this. NURSYS reports for RNs must be sent with profile. Please ensure that the NURSYS is up to date (within 4 weeks of submission date). Resources who worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must be separated from Ochsner Health System for 1 full year before they can return as travel. Modules: modules are billable, modules are completed during orientation and factored in orientation hours, modules are recorded via facility.
