Job description

We are seeking a Applications Engineer who'll work closely with Sales, Project Management, Engineering, and Manufacturing to support the Selux product line through fixture layouts, technical support, and project execution.

Compensation: $25.00–$35.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create submittal drawings using AutoCAD for customer interior, exterior, and custom projects, including shipping charts.
  • Create layout drawings using SolidWorks for customer interior and exterior projects, including shipping charts.
  • Evaluate and review change requests for feasibility.
  • Revise existing drawings as needed.
  • Manage and prioritize drawing assignments.
  • Collaborate with Applications Engineering team members on projects.
  • Maintain standard product CAD files and documentation.
  • Review and verify drawings completed by team members.
  • Participate in workload scheduling.
  • Provide technical support to Sales and Project Management teams.
  • Support remote Applications Engineering team members through video conferencing and other virtual collaboration tools.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects from initial request through completion, maintaining drawing accuracy, quality, and adherence to project deadlines.
  • Maintain knowledge of Selux products, engineering standards, and departmental procedures to support accurate and efficient project execution.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Solid Works
  • Lighting Experience a Plus

Job Knowledge and Skills:

  • Very proficient with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Mechanical drafting background preferred; architectural drawing experience a plus.
  • Ability to read architectural, reflected ceiling, and electrical plans.
  • Knowledge of building construction related to lighting fixtures is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking ability to analyze design and project requirements, identify potential conflicts, and determine practical solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a proactive manner and communicate project status and timelines effectively.
  • Spanish-English bilingual skills are a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Physical Demands:

  • Occasional work on the manufacturing floor.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Includes safety glasses and additional protection as required by law and Selux’s PPE and Safety policy.

Work environment:

  • Works in an engineering office environment.

Approximately 5% travel required.
